4-star EDGE Jayshawn Ross commits to Alabama

Kansas City (Mo.) Liberty North four-star EDGE Jayshawn Ross has committed to Alabama, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
He chose the Tide over Ole Miss, Nebraska, Kansas State and a handful of others.
Ross is the No. 194 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 21 EDGE and the No. 6 recruit in Missouri.
Heading into the fall, Nebraska was viewed as the frontrunner for the 6-foot-3, 220-pounder. That was until an announcement that Ross was re-opening his recruitment, allowing Kansas State to step into pole position for the blue-chipper.

Signs pointed toward the Wildcats throughout the fall, but then Alabama got involved. The Crimson Tide offered Ross in October, then got him to campus for an official visit to kick off November. Now, Alabama has added another blue-chipper to its top-five 2024 class.
“Obviously, we all know that it’s a great school,” Ross told BamaOnLine ahead of his OV. “Greatest coach of all time. So, it’s something to be proud of. It means I’m doing something right. Been expected, but that’s where we are with that. Earlier in the process, I knew I had some things to work on. I feel like I’ve got those things improved, and now I’m seeing the results of that.”
