Jim Jarvis: "We belong in Omaha"
Not every team can compete for a national championship in the end. That’s just not the way that sports work. Even so, Alabama IF Jim Jarvis is convinced that Alabama is worthy of a spot in this year’s College World Series although they were eliminated in the Winston Salem Super Regional.
Jarvis shared his confidence in a press conference following the Crimson Tide’s season-ending loss to the nation’s top seed in Wake Forest. He said the outcome doesn’t change the fact that he feels that ‘Bama is more than deserving of a berth in Omaha to compete for a championship.
“I think it’s everyone’s dream to go to Omaha. Regardless of the outcome today, I believe we belong in Omaha,” Jarvis said. “It’s just the way baseball works sometimes. We didn’t get there. Everyone wants to go to Omaha, especially being on a team that’s really, really close-knit and having fun together.”
There’s nothing wrong with confidence like that from the senior. That’s the sort of thing that likely helped Alabama reach their final record of 43-21, especially considering what took place in the middle of their season.
Still, when it comes to the future, Jarvis believe championship baseball can be played in Tuscaloosa. When you take into account the way that the program is ran, he expects the Tide to eventually reach that level at some point down the line.
“This is the spot to do it. I mean the way that they run the team? It’s literally just a family. That’s why it sucks that we didn’t get there because I would love to see or just be able to play baseball with these guys a little bit longer,” said Jarvis. “You couldn’t ask for a better situation at Alabama. I hope that everyone out there sees that and, obviously, the program will continue to grow.”
The Crimson Tide went out with a whimper as the Demon Deacons swept them with a 22-5 exclamation point in their final game being what finally shut the door on their season. However, if Jarvis had it his way, Alabama would be heading to Charles Schwab Field next week considering his belief that they’re just as legitimate as the other contenders that are still alive.

Williamson on Jason Jackson’s future: “He couldn’t have done any more perfect of a job”
Alabama baseball saw its season come to an end Sunday with a Super Regional loss to Wake Forest, and now the question becomes whether it should hire interim coach Jason Jackson for the official role. If you ask Crimson Tide players Drew Williamson and Jim Jarvis, the answer is an easy one.
“He couldn’t have done any more perfect of a job,” Williamson said postgame after the loss to the Demon Deacons. “I can say honestly that I would go to war for this guy. I’ve loved the time that I’ve got to spend playing for him. And I hope that somebody will give him a shot somewhere else because they will not regret it. He’s a great dude, great coach. Just great all around and I really enjoyed having him.”
If that weren’t clear enough, Williamson made an obvious endorsement for Alabama to keep Jackson later on.
“I don’t get to make any hiring decisions. But, if I did, I promise you this would be my guy,” he said. “I’ll say that.”
Jackson took over in May after the school fired Brad Bohannon amidst a gambling scandal. Prior to that, he had been the team’s pitching coach for the past five seasons.
