Joel Klatt has one giant question for Alabama after defeating Tennessee
Alabama is back on schedule as a contender, in some form or another, with how they’ve played over their five games so far in the SEC. Even so, FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt has one concern with the Crimson Tide that might stop them in their tracks.
Klatt asked one significant question regarding ‘Bama during his show on Monday. With how they’ve found success in the past few weeks, he wants to know if that’s going to end up being enough to win in their massive upcoming matchup with LSU for the SEC West.
“They’re not what they have been over the last few years. You get the sense that they’re playing with a little of the same thing that Michigan is playing with. Discipline, toughness, physicality,” explained Klatt. “They’re trying to win the games that way and they’ve been able to do so.”
“Credit to them and credit to Nick Saban. But it leaves me with a giant question for Alabama, a giant question – Can you beat LSU that way?” Klatt asked. “I don’t know.”
Klatt posed this question since the Tigers have the nation’s No. 1 offense as they’re averaging 47.4 points per game. In total, they’re putting up over 550 yards of offense a contest. With LSU playing that way, he isn’t sure if the Crimson Tide can keep pace with them on the scoreboard based on what they’ve shown this season.
“It seems like this LSU team is going to be able to score 35-40 points on anybody that they play,” Klatt explained. “Jayden Daniels and that offense? They’re for real. It just gives me pause when I think about ‘Bama’s matchup against LSU.”

“I just feel like LSU is going to require more out of the ‘Bama offense than the ‘Bama offense has,” said Klatt.
The good news for Alabama is that the game will be in Tuscaloosa. One could also make the case that they could muck it up for LSU in a way that others haven’t.
Still, if things reach the point of a shootout? Klatt isn’t sure that Alabama has enough firepower to match what the Tigers will bring to the table.
“That’s what I think about Alabama. I don’t know if they can beat LSU,” said Klatt. “It might be another year in which it goes south early for LSU. And, yet, they kind of find their way back into the SEC Championship.”
