John Metchie III played a phenomenal game in the Iron Bowl. One of the best iterations of the legendary rivalry will always feature him with a singular, everlasting image — Metchie shushing the crowd after scoring the game-winning two-point conversion.

Instead of adding more fuel to the fire, Metchie III had a simple yet effective response in his post-game press conference.

“Hundred-percent noticed it,” Metchie stated, regarding Auburn players mocking Alabama with their celebrations. “I guess all I’ll say is Roll Tide, man. We won.”

Throughout the game, Auburn players were feeling themselves. Celebrations and trash-talk galore, they were ready to celebrate an all-time victory. However, Metchie and the Alabama offense led a miraculous comeback.

Moreover, the star wide receiver was more than clutch throughout the game. His final stat-line proved he picked up the slack when Jameson Williams was ejected from the game for targeting. All in all, Metchie caught 13 passes for 150 yards — none bigger, and none prettier than his game-winner.

Next up for John Metchie III and Alabama is the most anticipated matchup of the season — the SEC Championship Game against Georgia.

Bryce Young: ‘I think Metch said something about Roll Tide.’

In agreement with Metchie, Alabama quarterback Bryce Young didn’t take too kindly to Auburn players mocking the Crimson Tide receiver Jameson Williams‘ signature touchdown celebration. In a postgame interview following Alabama’s four-overtime win in the Iron Bowl, Young had a few words for the Tigers.

“We saw it,” he said. “It was noted. But I think Metch said something about ‘Roll Tide,’ so I’m gonna double down on that.”

Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams has struck the same Karate Kid pose after most every touchdown this season. After Williams’ ejection for targeting, Auburn mocked the Crimson Tide, using the same Karate Kid celebration twice.

Ultimately, Bryce Young and Alabama had the last laugh against Auburn. Metchie avenged his ejected teammate with the same Karate Kid celebration after ending the game. Metchie’s game-winning two-point conversion put the nail in the coffin and finished his terrific night.

The Crimson Tide finished 11-1 with the victory and now prepare themselves for a matchup against Georgia in the SEC Championship Game. Although nothing is certain, the general feeling is that Saturday’s Iron Bowl win secured Bama’s spot in the College Football Playoff. Still, no two-loss teams have ever made the final four, casting doubt should they fall to the Bulldogs.
