Jordan Battle gives hilarious answer on his mindset towards defensive touchdowns
Everybody knows that when the Alabama Crimson Tide takes the field, they are there to compete and compete hard. But what some do not know is the players also love to compete against one another. After the defense was challenged to create turnovers heading into Week 3’s matchup against Louisiana Monroe, they stepped up to the challenge in a big way. Not only did they cause a few turnovers, but they also had a defensive touchdown. After the game, the defensive players who scored had a bit of a celebration. And that little celebration might have lit a bit of a flame under Jordan Battle to get one this season too.
“I guess there’s been a talk, I guess,” said Battle when asked has there been talk between players who have and haven’t scored on defense. “Scoring touchdowns, I know how it feels; I know, been here before. I will try to score a touchdown as well. I’m trying to get that celebration out. I have a new celebration I’m trying to show. So, hopefully, I can make a play, so y’all can see it.
Battle might not have to wait long until he gets on the board, given his playmaking abilities in the secondary. On the season, Alabama has only recorded one interception. And that was in the win last week by Heisman hopeful Will Anderson. And it wouldn’t be very Heisman-like if Anderson didn’t do the right thing and return it for the score, which he did.
Next up for the Crimson Tide is the start of the SEC conference play against Vanderbilt. That game will be on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium, home of the Crimson Tide. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT and can be seen on the SEC Network.

Will Anderson puts his pick-six as a top five moment in his career
Anderson is no stranger to making plays, as he essentially lived in the backfield of offenses all of last year causing sacks and tackles for loss left and right. But this weekend he contributed in a new way, securing his first career interception and touchdown for the Crimson Tide on a 25-yard interception return for a score. It’s also the first turnover for the Crimson Tide defense this season, which apparently came with a pretty sweet prize.
“It’s crazy because in the locker room before the game we was talking as a defense and was like, everybody gotta put in $20 for whoever gets the first turnover, so I got the first turnover so everybody’s gotta give me $20,” Anderson said.
Anderson walked through the play, as he leaped high in the air to secure the interception off of a tipped screen pass attempt and broke a tackle on his way to the end zone, in a moment it sounds like he won’t forget.
