Alabama HC Nick Saban makes in-home visit to 5-star QB commit Julian Sayin
With just over a week to go until National Signing Day, coaches are back out on the recruiting trail making in-home visits to top prospects around the country. For Carlsbad (Calif.) quarterback Julian Sayin, that meant a visit from his future head coach, Nick Saban.
Sayin is a Five-Star Plus+ quarterback, ranked as the No. 5 overall prospect and No. 1 quarterback in the 2024 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
He committed to Alabama in November of last year and has been the cornerstone of the Crimson Tide’s 2024 class ever since.
“You think of the consistency, the standard,” Sayin told On3 when he committed. “The track record with quarterbacks, with winning games, draft picks, it’s the standard of college football.”
Sayin chose the Tide over LSU, with the standard of excellence in Tuscaloosa pushing Alabama over the finish line.

Alabama WR to transfer
“It was a really tough decision,” Sayin said. “With the relationship I have with LSU, notably the coaching staff there, I’m really comfortable with them, so it was definitely a tough decision. You can see the future at LSU with what they’re building and it’s somewhere that is definitely gonna be back on top soon. But Alabama, with coach Saban, he’s gonna hold you to the highest standard and that’s what I want to be a part of.
“I want to go somewhere where I’m gonna get coached hard, but they’re gonna expect excellence.”
Sayin currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $803K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
Julian Sayin Scouting Summary
“The most refined and accurate passer in the 2024 cycle. Measured in at over 6-foot-1, 195 pounds with a 9.25-inch hand prior to his senior season. Touts one of the quickest releases in the cycle with a tight, compact throwing motion. Has outstanding overall mechanics. Consistently throws in rhythm, marrying his eyes, upper body and feet. Generates good zip on short and intermediate passes. The ball gets out quick. Layers his passes with ease, delivering with advanced touch. Hits receivers in stride. A good deep ball thrower. Comfortable passer on the run with the ability to deliver from off-platform. Navigates the pocket with ease and with intention. Plays on his toes and has quick, reactive feet.
“A surgical passer on Friday nights. Decisive passer who reads the field quickly and efficiently. Turned in an efficient junior season, completing 66.5% of his passes for 2,708 yards (11.1 yards per attempt) and 27 touchdowns against 4 interceptions. Also rushed for 154 yards and three scores. A standout in neutral settings, as he was named the On3 MVP at the Elite 11 Finals and OT7 Finals prior to his senior season. Does not possess the eye-popping physical traits of some of his highly-touted peers. Can continue building on his improvisational skills and overall creativity as he often wins from within structure. Considered a very safe quarterback prospect with a high floor at the next level.”
