LOOK: Junior college tight end makes commitment to Alabama official
Hutchinson Community College tight end Miles Kitselman made his commitment to Alabama official on Friday afternoon after news broke on Thursday night. The newest member of the Tide’s 2022 class announced his decision on Twitter with a graphic and a note to his friends, family and coaches.
The Lyndon, Kansas, native checks in at 6-foot-6, 250-pounds and will be joining the Crimson Tide for summer classes. The junior college transfer tight end also had a scholarship offer from the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns. Kitselman also had offers from a number of FCS schools: Southern Illinois, Northern Colorado, and Indiana State.
The newest Crimson Tide commit joins the 2022 class, which was No. 2 in the nation with four five-star prospects. Alabama also added a former five-star in LSU cornerback transfer Eli Ricks.
Crimson Tide coaches stumbled upon Kitselman at Hutchinson
Nick Saban’s 2022 class already had three tight ends in Amari Niblack, Danny Lewis and Elijah Brown. Apparently, the Crimson Tide staff didn’t go to Hutchinson C.C. looking for a tight end. According to Kitselman, the coaches were on campus to see Malik Benson, a recruit in the 2023 class who has Alabama in his top 11. However, the 6-foot-6 tight end caught their eye.

“Bama didn’t even know who I was,” Kitselman told the Tuscaloosa News. “I was working with the wide receivers in pre-practice, and then all of a sudden they were like, ‘Hey, who’s this No. 87? Is he a big wide receiver or is he a tight end working with wide receivers?’
“Just went from there. Luckily Alabama needed a tight end. A lot of the situations (with colleges recruiting my position) it doesn’t even matter how good you are. If a team is set on tight ends they’re not even going to look at you. Lord willing, Alabama needed a tight end, I was available and they chose me, so I just committed on the spot.”
