Alabama OL Kadyn Proctor is one of the youngest contributors to this season’s team. He has been able to hold his own, though, because of his confidence that has grown and grown over the course of his freshman year in Tuscaloosa.

Proctor spoke about his development during an interview on ‘Andy Staples On3’ on Sunday ahead of The Rose Bowl. As he told Staples, the belief he has in himself has only improved during his first collegiate season.

“Like I’m saying, the confidence level has skyrocketed,” said Proctor.

Proctor said he had always felt that way, even back to when he was a recruit. Still, he had to learn that, especially in the trenches, the college level is a whole new ball game.

“I’ve always had confidence – in high school too. But you just get to a different level, kind of got to restart that,” said Proctor.

“If you say the wrong things? Some dude is going to send a hit out on you and you’re going to get messed up for it,” Proctor said. “So I kind of had to figure that out.”

Proctor arrived at Alabama as highly-touted as any prospect in their class in 2023. That was a group that finished No. 1 in the nation according to On3’s Industry Team Rankings.

Proctor was the No. 1 OT in the cycle as the No. 1 player out of Iowa and No. 9 prospect overall. He was the third-highest rated signee overall for the Tide behind only Keon Keeley, the No. 2 recruit overall and No. 1 edge, and Caleb Downs, the No. 5 player and No. 1 safety turned Alabama’s leader in tackles.

Since then, Proctor has held down the left tackle spot for ‘Bama as the offensive line’s starter in every game. That helped him to make the All-SEC Freshman Team before he put on one of his best outings yet to help Alabama win the SEC Championship.

Every true freshman just has to feel their way through their first college games. However, Proctor found his footing early and has only gotten better since then.

With that already clear, he has two more games to end his first season on as high a note as possible before building on that confidence heading into year number two.
