Kalen DeBoer reveals his message to people who want him to show more frustration
A lot about Kalen DeBoer quickly came into question over this last week after Alabama’s loss to Vanderbilt. However, as far as his demeanor, it shouldn’t fool anyone about how displeased that he and his program were by that outcome.
During his first press conference this week, DeBoer received a question about his lack of visible frustration in Nashville. He made it clear, though, that he very much was and they very much were.
“I mean, I’m extremely frustrated,” said DeBoer. “We all are, you know, but we’re not going to lose our cool over that. We understand, you know, what happened.”
Still, as far as that goes, DeBoer wants to keep most of that in-house with his own team. He saw all that he needed to see from them all right after what happened against the Commodores.
“A lot of what I see in the response, even in the locker room? I guess you’re talking about press conference afterward or something. That’s really the only time you could have seen me I guess. You know, I think that’s me seeing what already is happening in 30 minutes, 20 minutes after the game is over,” DeBoer explained. “I saw extreme frustration. I saw guys wanting to stick together, wanting to still do something special. Believing in each other, expressing that. You know, I had my part in that too where, you know, we understood, you know, what happened and that it’s not up to our standard and how we had to proceed forward.”

Sharing those frustrations is only going to get the Crimson Tide so far too. That’s especially so with still over half a season left and all that they want to accomplish still out there for them to do.
“We’re all extremely frustrated but we aren’t going to sit and lose our cool because, you know, I don’t think that’s the right way to go about it. You know, there’s a time and place for everything,” said DeBoer. “Again, we’re still early in the season, you know. We left ourselves a little less wiggle room to achieve some of the goals we have but those goals are still out there.”
“We need to just focus on what our whole mindset is and it’s always to improve every single day. That’s never going to change,” DeBoer said. “To improve, I think you’ve got to have things in perspective and, you know, focus on the right areas. Our whole team is doing that.”
