Keanu Koht cited for speeding at 105 mph before leaving Alabama football team
Alabama linebacker Keanu Koht was pulled over for speeding on Nov. 2, cited as driving at 105 miles per hour in Tuscaloosa, police records obtained by AL.com’s Mike Rodak.
The news comes after Koht was suspended and subsequently entered the NCAA transfer portal. Koht had previously spent four years in Tuscaloosa.
The report reads that Koht “Did unlawfully operate a motor vehicle or other vehicle at or near I-59 within the County of TUSCALOOSA at or near S/B in violation of Section 32-5A-171 (Code of Alabama, 1975) duly adopted and in force at the time the offense was committed.”
Koht was cited for driving 26 miles over the speed limit at approximately 2:55 p.m. Although, the report also states that he was driving 105 in a 70 MPH zone, which would be 35 miles over the limit instead of 26. Whether that is a mistake is unknown as of this report.
Since arriving in Tuscaloosa four years ago, he went on to redshirt as a freshman after not appearing in any games. He’s played sparingly since, seeing time in 14 games on defense and special teams over the past three seasons, including half of those coming throughout the 2024 season.

During his time in Tuscaloosa, Koht posted nine tackles and half of a sack. Five of the tackles and his lone half-sack came during his games this season as well.
Koht, a native of Vero Beach, Florida, was a four-star prospect in high school. He was the No. 39 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was also rated as the No. 4 LB and the No. 10 player from out of his state.
On3, though, ranked Koht as a five-star in his class. He was the No. 16 overall prospect as the No. 1 LB and No. 4 player in Florida back in ’21.
