After falling short last season, Alabama will enter the 2022 season hoping to get its hands back on the College Football Playoff trophy. Many key players will be returning, with reigning Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Bryce Young being the most prominent name. Of course, head coach Nick Saban will be leading the pack as he enters his 16th season with the Crimson Tide.

VegasInsider has dropped win totals for every team in the country and for Alabama, their number is placed at 10.5 Only three other teams are expected to win double-digit games throughout the regular season, as CFP regulars Clemson, Georgia, and Ohio State are there as well.

From a historical standpoint, the last time Alabama did not have at least 10 wins during the regular season was in Saban’s first season, 2007. When you’re looking at fewer than 11 wins, 2019 saw the Crimson Tide lose two during a 12-game schedule after dropping games to LSU and Auburn.

Looking at the 2022 schedule for Alabama, they will be playing a Power Five opponent on the road after years of opening weekend neutral site games. Texas will be the opponent and the Crimson Tide will head to Austin on Sept. 10 for one of the season’s most highly anticipated matchups of the year.

The rest of the nonconference includes Austin Peay, Louisiana-Monroe, and Utah State spread out throughout the season.

Attention, of course, will mainly be on the SEC this season as Alabama once again has to run through the tough SEC West.

Two road games that will be circled from within the division will be Arkansas and Ole Miss, who are both considered sleepers. The former gave the Crimson Tide a close game in Tuscaloosa last season while Lane Kiffin continues his quest to get a win over his former head coach. Atmospheres in Fayetteville and Oxford are going to be some of the best when Alabama is in town.

As for rivalry games go, Alabama will host the 2022 Iron Bowl at Bryant Denny Stadium. Saban has struggled with Auburn during his tenure but it’s always been on the Plains at Jordan Hare Stadium. Only once have the Tigers traveled to the west side of the state and gotten a win.

Additionally, the Crimson Tide has only had a three-game win streak within the rivalry under Saban once. A win this season would accomplish the feat once again.
