Alabama linebacker Demouy Kennedy out for the season with knee injury

Injuries were unfortunately the story of the game for Alabama during their road win against Arkansas. Quarterback Bryce Young headlined the group but late in the contest, linebacker Demouy Kennedy went down and was helped off the field.
During Wednesday’s SEC coaches teleconference, head coach Nick Saban provided an update on Kennedy, not giving out good news. He said the junior linebacker suffered a knee injury and will be out going forward.

“He’s got a knee injury,” Saban said. “He’s out.”
When then asked if he meant for the rest of the season, simply replied “yes.”
Kennedy has played in all five games for Alabama but will now miss the final seven. He has recorded just one tackle, coming against Vanderbilt in the blowout win.
Now, Alabama is even thinner at inside linebacker than before. It’s a position Saban has struggled with depth-wise, despite having two capable starters. Kennedy will not be able to get back onto the field this season and will begin rehab for 2023 as soon as possible.
Nick Saban provides update on Bryce Young
Ahead of Saturday’s showdown with Texas A&M, Alabama leader Nick Saban gave an update on the injury status of his quarterback, Bryce Young.

In last weekend’s victory over Arkansas, the reigning Heisman winner suffered a shoulder injury that sidelined him for most of the game. While Young couldn’t return to the field against the Razorbacks, Saban isn’t ruling him out for Saturday’s game against Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies.
“I’m sure that everybody wants an update on Bryce, so I’m going to give it to you,” stated Saban on Wednesday’s SEC Coaches Teleconference. “He’s doing some things in practice, and he’s still listed as day-to-day.
“No decision is going to be made until he decides, and we decide from a medical staff standpoint, whether he can go out there and functionally do his job.”
