Shackelford certainly appeared to put in the hard work against Baylor, grabbing nine of Alabama’s 29 rebounds and outrebounding every player in the game. In addition to his work on the glass, Shackelford put up 19 points with five assists and recorded three steals. Although he struggled a bit from the field, his ability to draw fouls let him shoot 8-for-10 from the free throw line.
Alabama’s ability as a team to get to the rim and play inside around the basket made the difference in the game. The Crimson Tide shot over 59 percent from the field and shot 22-for-26 from the free throw line, making the most of every opportunity they had.
After knocking off No. 4 Baylor, Alabama has now won five games against top-15 teams in the nation. The Crimson tide had also previously beaten then-No. 3 ranked Gonzaga. In addition, Alabama has now beaten three of the four teams to appear in the Final Four last season after beating then-No. 14 Houston earlier this season.
With the win, Alabama improves to 14-7 on the season with major wins on their resume. Despite the impressive moments, there have been several head-scratching games that Alabama has lost as well. In conference play, Alabama lost games to Missouri and Georgia, putting them at seventh in the conference currently.
