Only three of the top 15 wide receivers in the 2023 On3 Consensus are currently uncommitted. One of them is Longview (Tex.) four-star wideout Jalen Hale, who took an unofficial visit to Alabama on July 30.

This weekend marked Hale’s first trip to Tuscaloosa since March 5. Following its conclusion, he wrote that “he had a blast” on Twitter and thanked head coach Nick Saban and wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins.

Hale shared photos from the visit on social media as well. He is ranked as the No. 74 overall prospect and No. 13 wide receiver in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Hale is also rated as the No. 14 player in Texas.

Jalen Hale is one of the top uncommitted wideouts in the 2023 class

The only wide receivers uncommitted alongside Hale are Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Stranahan five-star wide receiver Hykeem Williams and Baton Rouge (La.) Catholic five-star wide receiver Shelton Sampson Jr.

Like Sampson Jr. and Williams, Hale is heavily trending towards a school according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. However, it isn’t Alabama. Per the RPM, Texas has a commanding lead for Hale’s commitment at 92.4%. The Crimson Tide’s odds are at less than 1%.

Hale has taken three unofficial visits to Austin so far. His only official visits were to Georgia on June 3 and USC on June 17. Texas A&M has also received seven unofficial visits from Hale.

Hale’s performance during the Under Armour Future 50 was recognized by On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power. “Wide receiver Jalen Hale had a ho-hum morning session at Under Armour Future 50 but was among the more productive wideouts, in 7-on-7, snagging three touchdowns,” Power wrote. “Two of the scores came against zone coverage. Hale was able to find cracks in the zone and work his way open in the end zone.”

The 6-foot-0.5, 185 pound wideout has an On3 NIL Valuation of $163K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
