Malachi Moore is looking for a bit of revenge as he and Alabama head to Neyland Stadium to face Tennessee on Saturday. The Vols snapped a 15-year losing streak against the Crimson Tide with a last-second field goal the last time the game was played in Knoxville in 2022.

Moore is one of a handful of players from this year’s team who were there. Asked if he had a chip on his shoulder entering the game, the fifth-year defensive back didn’t sugarcoat things.

“Definitely,” Moore said. “Last time we went there, we didn’t come out on the right end of things. So that’s definitely a thing that the players that were there is still aware of.”

Alabama won last year’s contest in Tuscaloosa, but the chance to go back and get one on enemy turf is still a motivating factor entering this season’s game. It’s also a matchup that will have implications for the College Football Playoff.

Both Alabama and Tennessee already have one loss this season and another here would hurt either’s chances of making the expanded 12-team CFP. That adds even more stakes to what is already one of the most heated rivalries in college football.

After suffering a 40-35 upset against Vanderbilt in Week 6, the Crimson Tide also struggled to put away South Carolina this past week in an eventual 27-25 win. They enter this game against the Volunteers as 2.5-point favorites on the road.

Moore and the Alabama defense will look to cause some mistakes from redshirt freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava. He looked good early on this season but has come back down to earth in SEC with no touchdowns and one interception over his past couple of games.

However, he’ll at least have the home crowd advantage on his side in this one that looks to be another exciting Third Saturday in October. Kickoff between Alabama and Tennessee is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday and the game will be televised on ABC.
