'Miss Terry' Saban releases statement on Nick Saban's retirement: 'We'll be cheering'
Everyone has put their two cents in on Nick Saban’s retirement announcement. The only reaction he might care about, however, is his wife, ‘Miss Terry’ Saban’s.
She released a statement on Wednesday via the Nick’s Kids Foundation.
‘It has been an incredible run these last 17 years at the University of Alabama and we take with us many amazing memories. We hope that the Saban legacy will be about helping others and making a positive difference in people’s lives as well as the winning tradition on the field. Our Nick’s Kids Foundation will continue to help children, student, and teacher causes in the State of Alabama. The rules for the game of football may change, but the ‘process’ will never go out of style: hard work, discipline, the relentless pursuit of a worthy goal, not cutting corners, and doing things the right way for the sake of constant personal improvement, not for the scoreboard.
“Alabama will always feel like ‘Sweet Home’ to our family, and we’ll be cheering ‘Roll Tide’!”
If Saban has anyone to thank for his illustrious career — he’d probably have to hand that honor to Miss Terry. The two celebrated 52 years of marriage last year, and has been one of the most beloved members of the Alabama football program during Saban’s tenure.
She always brought her game face to the stands on game day and was always quick to embrace any and all Crimson Tide players after the game. She, almost as much as Saban, will be missed around the football program.

According to Low, Saban isn’t just up and leaving Tuscaloosa. He’s expecting the now former Crimson Tide head coach to play a bit of a helping hand in choosing his successor before riding off into the sunset.
“Nick Saban will do anything and everything he can to help them move forward,” Low told Finebaum. “In no way, shape or form — but it’s not in his DNA to try to force somebody on [Alabama] and tell them that this is who you should go hire.
“He will be a resource for him. You can bet your last dollar on that and I think they’ll sort of look around and see who they feel like the fit. There are a lot of good young coaches out there.”
According to Low, college football is a “young man’s game,” and the workload of being a coach in college football in this day and age is more than it used to be. Staying on top of NIL and the transfer portal while also maintaining dominance in the high school recruiting ranks is a lot for any coach to handle.
