An Alabama legend was in town on Tuesday but found himself on the opposing sideline. Mo Williams is the head coach of Jackson State and his team traveled to Tuscaloosa for a showdown against Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide.

While Williams might be from Mississippi, he went across state lines to sign with Alabama coming out of high school. He spent two seasons there, getting to two NCAA Tournaments and even getting a win during the 2002 edition.

To pay tribute to his former school, Williams decided to whip out some jewelry. He wore a necklace with his old jersey during the game and showed the media during his postgame press conference.

A cool moment for Williams to have in his return to Tuscaloosa. You can see the full chain here.

While showing off his jewelry, Williams explained how proud he was of how far the Alabama program has gotten. You could tell returning to Coleman Colesium meant a lot to the former NBA star, even if Jackson State was not on the winning end.

“I was happy to bring the team here to see where I came from,” Williams said. “I’m very proud to be an alumni. I’m proud to watch this team compete every single day since I left. I’m proud to say that I am part of the Crimson Tide family. And I’m very proud. That’s why I have this today — it’s an Alabama jersey with the No. 25 on it.

“I’m very prideful in my institution. And to see them play at a high level and bringing back the glory days when I was here, it really means a lot. I’m very supportive of them. Obviously, I wanted to beat them because I am a competitor, so I didn’t take it light on them at all today.”
