Nate Oats makes case for best scorers in the country to play at Alabama
Nate Oats watched his Alabama team score the ball seemingly at will against LSU in the their most recent game.
The Crimson Tide won the game 106-66 in a major blowout. They shot the ball 54 times from beyond the arc and made 20 of them. The performance came two years after Alabama made a school-record 23 3-pointers from beyond the arc against the Tigers.
“It’s different players, different staff, just a coincidence,” Oats said after the game.
Brandon Miller led the way with 31 points while shooting 7 of 11 from 3-point land. Jahvon Quinerly also went 4-for-8 from beyond the arc.
What is not a coincidence is Oats’ team’s confidence and ability to shoot it from deep. The Crimson Tide take pride in their offensive attitude and ability to shoot the ball from deep.
“20’s a lot,” Nate Oats said of Alabama’s 3-pointers. “We got some shooters. We value shooting. We try to keep recruiting best shooters we can in the country (to) come here. We shot 54. A lot of teams don’t shoot 54 in a span of three or four games. We’ll keep taking them. If you’re open, you shoot it here.”

John Calipari recently praised Alabama’s Brandon Miller’s
Kentucky head coach John Calipari watched Brandon Miller ball out earlier this month for Alabama in a win over his Wildcats.
After the game, Calipari talked about what makes Miller such an imposing threat for opposing defenses to hone in on.
“He’s good,” Calipari said earlier this month. “The biggest thing’s he’s consistent shooting the ball and you got to be aware of where he is. It spaces the court. It gives the guards more room to move. He’s good — good player.”
Miller is shaping up to be one of the best players Nate Oats has had during his brief time at Alabama.
