Nick Saban reveals his emotions following comeback win vs. Auburn in Iron Bowl
As it usually is, the Iron Bowl between Alabama and Auburn was an extremely exciting matchup on Saturday night. Auburn led 10-0 entering the third quarter, but Alabama scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to force overtime. After four overtime periods, Alabama walked away with the win. Alabama head coach Nick Saban was very happy to have ended the regular season with an Iron Bowl win.
Saban spoke to reporters after the game, where he tried to recap his emotions after completing the comeback victory.
“Well I just had a feeling that the way we were playing on defense that we were going to have some opportunities and be able to come back in the game,” Saban said to reporters after the win in the Iron Bowl. “Now I thought that was not a good feeling when we botched the first field goal snap and didn’t come out with any points on that drive. But feels really good.”
Saban: The comeback win in the Iron Bowl is something Alabama ‘should always remember’
It would have been catastrophic if Alabama didn’t come away with a win in the Iron Bowl over Auburn. The Crimson Tide are now 11-1 on the season, and will likely remain in the top four of the College Football Playoff rankings entering conference championship week.

“I mean more than anything else, sometimes should you equate what you accomplish in this profession from how many games you win or how many winners you help to develop so that they have a chance to be not only winners on the field, but winners in life,” Saban said. “And the way these guys sort of overcame adversity in this game and showed great resiliency and the way they performed, and I said that to them in the locker room after the game, this is something you should always remember.
“When you put your best foot forward and you fight and you really believe in something and you do it together as a group, what you can accomplish. So that may happen to you sometime in your life too. But anyways, I can tell you it feels good. It feels really good to come back and get a win.”
Next up for Saban and Alabama is a date with No. 1 Georgia in the SEC Championship game. The outcome of that game could have serious playoff implications. Even if Alabama loses, the fashion in which they do could be a deciding factor for the CFP committee.
