Nick Saban applauds Brian Robinson for his perseverance
Anytime a coach in college football gets to see one of their players persevere through tough times and adversity in order to see success, it endears them to their head coaches and fan bases. Such is the case with Alabama senior running back Brian Robinson, who has patiently waited his turn for one of the most coveted running back spots in America.
He has been drawing a lot of buzz from NFL scouts recently, according to On3’s Matt Zenitz.
His head coach, Nick Saban, couldn’t say enough good things about him when asked on Wednesday.
“B-Rob [Brian Robinson] has really done an outstanding job, I think. He’s been here for five years. Four those years he played but he was never the guy,” Saban began. “He played on special teams. He played some backup role. He got some opportunity, probably not as much as he would like. Then I think he made a tough decision, you know, to say I wanna come back. I want to play. I know I can get much more of an opportunity to show what I can do. I think so far this year, he’s done a really, really good job of that.
“I do think you used the word perseverance — that I think is a great example of guys that don’t have immediate success and how they focus on development.”

Saban continued.
“To continue to work hard rather than getting frustrated and make choices and decisions that are not going to help them develop; that are not going to help them advance their opportunities to play. B-Rob certainly never did that. There are players that do do that. Then it takes a while for them to mature so they can do it. B-Rob has always shown tremendous maturity in his disposition on the team, how he can contribute to the team, and how he’s improved as a player.”
In 2019 and 2020, Robinson rushed for over 400 yards in each season for Alabama. He also hauled in over 100 receiving yards in 2019 for the Crimson Tide. In his Alabama career so far, Robinson has 16 career touchdowns. In the 2021 campaign, he’s rushed for 130 yards and one rushing touchdown. The Tuscaloosa, Alabama native has averaged over five yards per carry for his entire career at Alabama.
