Nick Saban was very complimentary of Lane Kiffin and his Ole Miss offense ahead of the matchup against Alabama.

Kiffin coached under Saban at Alabama as the offensive coordinator before going to FAU and eventually Ole Miss. The two will square off this weekend in Tuscaloosa.

Saban knows that the Alabama defense will have its hands full against the Rebels and Kiffin’s system.

“I think they’re outstanding obviously,” Saban said. “They’re fourth in the country or something that in total offense and scoring, you know, 52 points a game and 526 yards. So, you know, Lane’s an offensive guy and did a great job when he was here.

“And he’s done a great job there. The players do a great job of executing on which is always a good sign of a, you know, well coached team and I think he’s done a fantastic job there.”

Kiffin’s offense is moving right now with Jaxson Dart, as long as Dart doesn’t have to do it himself. So far, Alabama’s defense hasn’t been gashed other than Texas having its way in Week 2.

Saban and Kiffin are quite the matchup, but Saban has yet to lose to his former assistant.

Lane Kiffin glad Nick Saban doesn’t have Bryce Young anymore

Alabama does have a bit of quarterback conundrum this year, playing three different guys: Jalen MilroeTyler Buchner and Ty Simpson. Milroe is slated to return to the starting lineup this weekend.

Regardless, it’s not Young, which Kiffin is happy about. But that doesn’t make the game any easier.

“Well it’s good to know Bryce won’t be there,” Kiffin said. “That’s very positive. I mean, we all got our issues and, you know, this is one of the best teams or the best team in the last 15 years and one of the hardest places to play.

“Just because Texas won one in there, I mean, it didn’t get easier. So it’s a huge challenge, a dynasty and gotta do a lot of work to be able to be on the field with those guys. (They have) premier recruiting classes of five star players everywhere.”
