Nick Saban, Miss Terry react to Alabama approving 'Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium'
Reports came out on Thursday that the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium would be getting a new name. Now, a day later, its actually namesake has given his reaction to the huge honor down in Tuscaloosa.
Nick Saban and his wife, Miss Terry, were on the call on Friday where those at Alabama voted for the official approval of ‘Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium’. That motion has since passed with the name of the legendary and recently-retired head coach now being enshrined forever there.
In the athletic department’s release about the news, Saban also shared some words of gratitude.
“We are humbled that The University of Alabama has honored us with the naming of Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium,” said Saban. “The remarkable success that the football program has achieved over the past 17 years is a reflection of the hard work of many student-athletes, coaches and staff. Being leader of the process at Alabama has been the greatest privilege of my life.
“Terry and I are grateful for the naming of Saban Field, which forever celebrates our accomplishments,” Saban said.
President Stuart R. Bell along with AD Greg Byrne also gave their thoughts in the release.
“Dedicating the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium as Saban Field is a fitting way to honor Coach Saban’s extraordinary contributions to The University of Alabama,” said Bell. “Coach Saban and Ms. Terry have significantly enriched our community, and this recognition celebrates their lasting legacy. We are grateful to the Board of Trustees for bestowing this great honor.”

“We are thrilled to honor Coach Saban with the naming of Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium,” added Byrne. “He is one of the greatest coaches of all time, impacting countless lives far beyond football. What he and Ms. Terry mean to The University of Alabama and Tuscaloosa community is immeasurable. They continue to be tremendous ambassadors and we look forward to celebrating with them in September.”
More on the approval of Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium
Bryant-Denny Stadium officially has the special new name of the field that they’ll be taking this fall.
Reports came out on Thursday about the renaming of the field down in Tuscaloosa. A day later, the board of trustees and committee at Alabama have now officially approved the change to ‘Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium’.
The official dedication of it won’t take place during ‘Bama’s opener against Western Kentucky on August 31st. The Tide will have it the following week against USF on September 7th.
