Nick Saban is in offseason mode for Alabama football but his charity work is out in full swing. The Crimson Tide head coach hosts the “Nick’s Kids Foundation,” a charity he created in 1998 while at Michigan State.

Saban and his wife Terry use a variety of events to help raise money to help kids for numerous events and causes. It means a great deal to the Saban family.

Saban opened up about what the charity meant to him, his family and Alabama.

“This is an annual event that we certainly look forward to,” Saban said. “Nick’s Kids has been something that we’ve been able to contribute back to the community in a lot of different ways. I think Miss Terry has done a fantastic job, over $12 million contributed to the community. We just finished in our 20th Habitat house, various other kids organizations and savings centers.

“Obviously the big project for the future, which will really enhance education with technology, math, science, all kinds of things for young people and to educate teachers. So a lot of things that we’re trying to give back to the community. The community has been great to us. And we certainly appreciate the support that all the folks here that support Nick’s Kids have given us through the years and a lot of good friends, a lot of good relationships. So it’s great to be associated with the state of Alabama and the University of Alabama. So we’re excited about the future of Nick’s Kids as well as the future of the Alabama program.”
