Taking down Tennessee always means something to Alabama, even after their long win streak. But after last season’s game in Knoxville, things were made personal for the Crimson Tide. While the first half was a little bit shaky, Nick Saban has his team ready to go out of the halftime locker room for an impressive win.

During his postgame interview with the CBS broadcast, Saban mentioned how it’s always fun to take down Tennessee. His message was the same in the locker room, making sure his players enjoyed the win. Maybe the best news of it all was Alabama having a day off tomorrow heading into the bye week.

Alabama wide receiver Shazz Preston was able to capture the postgame speech on camera while smoking his cigar. Saban can be heard in the distance, delivering his speech — even if his voice is beginning to fade.

Saban is famous for using the 24-hour rule, only celebrating a win until sometime on Sunday. Once the time is up, Alabama moves on to the next opponent and puts the previous victory in the back of their mind. Never getting caught up in big wins during the regular season is how Alabama has kept its dominance throughout Saban’s tenure.

This one is a little bit different, though. Alabama wanted to get revenge on Tennessee for last year’s game and did so in impressive fashion. LSU is technically next on the schedule but the bye week gives them a gap. Players have been encouraged to enjoy the win for more than 24 hours.

Nick Saban to chew on cigar after beating Tennessee

As is tradition, cigar smoke filled Bryant Denny Stadium as the time ticked away on Alabama’s victory over Tennessee on the Third Saturday in October. It’s customary for fans and players alike to enjoy a celebratory cigar after winning the game, which the Crimson Tide did 34-20.

Nick Saban, however, doesn’t like to smoke cigars. He revealed such on Wednesday during the SEC Coaches Teleconference.

As for his plans after Saturday’s victory — which avenged last year’s loss at Neyland Stadium — Saban knew how he was going to try and enjoy his cigar.

“I’ll chew on one for a while,” Saban told CBS’ Jenny Dell with a grin. “I can tell you that.”

Dell then handed Saban a cigar, originally confused. However, he did begin to chew on it before going back into the locker room with a smile on his face.
