Nick Saban provides injury update on Camar Wheaton injury, progress of Roydell Williams, Trey Sanders
Alabama head coach Nick Saban held a press conference on Wednesday to update everyone on a number of issues, one of which was the status of prized freshman running back Camar Wheaton. Wheaton, a four-star prospect out of Lakeview Centennial (Garland, Texas) has been out since October due to a meniscus injury.
“Camar Wheaton’s still rehabbing. He’s not on the field yet. He’s got a ways to go,” Saban told reporters.
Wheaton was one of the most highly coveted running back prospects in the 2021 recruiting class. He was ranked as the No. 41 overall prospect in America, according to On3, in the 2021 cycle. He finished his career with 3,731 rushing yards and 48 touchdowns at Lakeview Centennial, despite having his senior year cut short due to COVID-19.
The Texas native is blessed with a breathtaking combination of elusiveness and speed in the open field. Alabama fans will look forward to him getting healthy eventually and helping to add some depth to the Crimson Tide backfield.
Update on other Alabama running backs
Saban also updated Alabama fans on the progress of Roydell Williams and Trey Sanders. The Crimson Tide head coach seemed quite pleased with both players.
“You know, those guys have done well. You know, they’ve all done a good job. They’ve done a good job when they get opportunities in the game,” Saban said.
