After suffering his second loss of the season and purportedly being eliminated from the College Football Playoff picture, Alabama head coach Nick Saban has to now put the pieces together for his team and map out a new set of goals. This season, the Crimson Tide has lost two games by a combined four points. Now that the College Football Playoff could be off the table for Alabama, Saban set some new goals for the team to close the 2022 season.

“I think everybody needs to kind of check their whole card and what we need to do to individually improve your stock to finish the season the right way,” Said Saban. “As well as have a goal of trying to win ten games, which I think just about every team we’ve had since 2007 has been able to do that.

“I like this team. I think this team is very capable – we could play with a little more consistency. Sometimes we beat ourselves too much, and it’s kind of hard to overcome. So, tough loss, but there’s nobody that feels worse about it than the players. They worked their tail off; they compete their tails off, and they just came up a little bit short.”

A 10-win season is very much attainable for Saban and Alabama. The Crimson Tide has three games remaining on their schedule, with the toughest of the three likely their upcoming matchup against the Ole Miss Rebel. Following that game, Alabama will take on Austin Peay and conclude their year on Nov. 26 against the Auburn Tigers in the Iron Bowl.

Greg McElroy suggests Saban brings old coaches back into Alabama program

With two regular-season losses occurring before the Iron Bowl, the sky may as well be falling in Tuscaloosa. For the first time in a long time, Nick Saban and Alabama have seemingly been eliminated from the national championship hunt early in the season. It’s not something we are used to and fundamental changes could be on the way for the Crimson Tide this offseason.

Former title-winning quarterback Greg McElroy gave his opinion on what needs changing, saying the coaching staff is a problem. He wants Saban to go back to his roots from the beginning of the dynasty and look to welcome back some familiar faces.

“I think it would be very beneficial to evaluate your coaching staff,” McElroy said Wednesday on the Paul Finebaum Show. “And then evaluate ‘alright, who are some guys that helped build this thing from the beginning back in 2007’… There’s a handful of other guys who are still out there coaching.”
