Alabama is set to promote tight ends coach Nick Sheridan to offensive coordinator, according to BamaOnline’s Charlie Potter.

The former Michigan quarterback aided Kalen DeBoer at Washington to unprecedented heights on offense. This move comes after Ryan Grubb elected to go to the NFL.

Now, DeBoer has his right-hand man as his OC should this be the official move.

Sheridan was the tight ends coach at Washington for two years and was also the offensive coordinator at Indiana from 2020-21. Prior to that, he coached QBs and TEs from 2017-19 with the Hoosiers.

Sheridan started his career in 2010 at Saline HS (Mich.) as a QB coach before becoming a grad assistant at Western Kentucky in 2011. He eventually worked in the passing game and with QBs the next season before doing the same at South Florida in 2013.

For 2014-16, Sheridan served as a grad assistant at Tennessee before his time at Indiana.

A former quarterback, Sheridan played with the Michigan Wolverines from 2006-10. He started four games in 2008 and eventually earned his degree in political science in 2010.

Names like Dan LanningMike Norvell and heck, even Dabo Swinney came up. But the former Washington coach seemed destined to take over for the GOAT.

Now it’s on DeBoer to keep the tradition of winning at a high level going for the foreseeable future.

“Dan Lanning comes up, Mike Norvell comes up but then I don’t know, it kinda feels like Kalen DeBoer was the pick,” Nakos said. “Just because of how quickly it came together and there wasn’t like a lot of back and forth there and man it’s been a wild six or 10 weeks whenever it’s been Kalen DeBoer. You lose Isaiah Bond in the first like 48 hours as the head coach and then like a week later Caleb Downs and Kaydn Proctor go in and I think all eyes are gonna be on him in the spring transfer portal window.

“I know he’s done a really good job getting that commitment back from Brian Hollywood Williams and everything but he has to be aggressive in the transfer portal if Alabama is going to be at the standard that everyone’s been used to for the last decade.”
