A good baseball game has been brewing in Tuscaloosa, with Alabama and Troy battling for the chance to be 2-0 in the Tuscaloosa Regional. Both went to bed on Friday night victorious and would really like to do the same on Tuesday. Shots have been traded back and forth between the teams but none were as loud as a home run from Andrew Pinckney.

Tied heading into the top of the sixth inning, Pinckney walked up to the plate with nobody on. He quickly fell behind to a first-pitch strike but before Troy’s fielders could even set, a missile was coming off of Pinckney’s bat. In what was a suspect measurement of 425 feet out of the Joe, you knew Pinckney hit a home run the moment there was contact.

Once the ball left the bat, Pinckney decided to admire his work. Taking a few seconds to get out of the batter’s box, he watched the ball sail into left field. An absolute moon shot from the Alabama star, putting his team in the lead at a critical moment.

You can watch the full moment from Pinckney here.

Pitching has been the story of the season for Alabama except for Pinckney. He has been the one consistent bat for the Crimson Tide, hitting his 17th home run of the season right there. When things have been going right offensively, Pinckney has been one of the main reasons why.

Unfortunately for Alabama, Troy was able to respond quickly in the bottom half of the inning. In what has felt like a game of ping pong at times, the Crimson Tide and Trojans are continually trading blows with one another. Pinckney may have to come up clutch once again in the later innings.

If he does, the reward for Alabama is a good one. They will not have to play until 8 p.m. on Sunday night and have the chance to completely avoid an elimination game. Being able to get to relax before heading to the ballpark and fighting for a Super Regional spot is critical.

Troy will be looking to hold on though, wanting to have the same advantages.

Whoever winds up on the losing end, Boston College will be waiting for them, with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. The winner of that game will then get to see another game while the other goes home and ends their NCAA Tournament run.
