Pete Thamel: Alabama has 'increasing sense of optimism' Bryce Young will start vs Tennessee
Bryce Young went down with an injury against Arkansas, which forced him to miss the Texas A&M game. Since then, there has been concern about whether he’ll be able to play against Tennessee. Now, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, there is increasing optimism that Bryce Young will be able to start against the Volunteers.
“The latest on Bryce Young is he’s like the rest of us, he’s day-to-day officially,” Pete Thamel said on ESPN’s College Football Live.
“But what we’re seen from Bryce Young this week is an improvement steadily and an increase in his throwing. Now there’s going to be an ambiguity of how much he can throw on Saturday and how effective he will be, because that injured shoulder has not truly been tested this week.

“But right now, if you look at the way Young has practiced this week and the way he’s ramped up, there’s an increasing sense of optimism from Alabama that Bryce Young is going to start the game and he is going to be available here in Knoxville on Saturday.”
While it has not been confirmed that Bryce Young will start, this is a sign in the right direction. However, it’s unlikely that Alabama will announce anything officially until the start of the game.
