WATCH: Raekwon Davis shares Alabama-themed playlist at Miami Dolphins minicamp
Raekwon Davis‘ will always have a place in his heart for Alabama. That much was evident when the Miami Dolphins defensive tackle was handed the AUX cord at the team’s minicamp Tuesday.
Davis took the opportunity to Alabama some love, playing songs such as “Dixieland Delight” by Alabama and “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd. The move even prompted a response from Alabama Football on Twitter the next day.
Raekwon Davis is one of three former Alabama players listed on the Dolphins roster along with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and receiver Jaylen Waddle. He played in Tuscaloosa from 2016-19, totaling 175 tackles (19.5 for loss), 11.5 sacks, a forced fumble and an interception over that span. He was a member of the 2017 national championship team, recording a career-high 69 tackles to go along with 8.5 sacks that year and being named first team All-SEC according to league coaches.
The Dolphins selected Davis in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft after they had already taken Tagovailoa in the first round. So far in his two seasons, Davis has amassed 68 tackles and 0.5 sacks across 30 games and 26 starts. He was named to the NFL’s All-Rookie team in 2020.

Despite finishing with winning records in each of the past two seasons, Miami has fallen short of the playoffs both times. The Dolphins have made some offseason moves in attempt to rectify that, including trading for receiver Tyreek Hill and signing three-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Terron Armstead.
Davis will also be a part of that group aiming to get the Dolphins back to the postseason. Perhaps his championship experience from his time at Alabama will come in handy in that regard. The Dolphins are set to open the 2022 regular season on Sept. 11 against the New England Patriots.
