Jason Jackson explains how Alabama has responded since Brad Bohannon's firing
When Brad Bohannon was fired in early May, Alabama could have crumbled. Controversy struck the program and at the time, they were looking at a losing record in SEC play. But interim head coach Jason Jackson has his team playing good baseball heading into the postseason, current winners of six in a row.
Jackson was asked how the players have responded over the past month, calling Alabama “a resilient group.” Having veteran players on the roster has certainly helped, as plenty of guys have SEC experience. A common theme for Jackson has been keeping the operation normal and letting the Crimson Tide just play baseball.
“They’ve done a great job of responding,” Jackson said on Tuesday. “They’re a resilient group. I go back to us being an older team. I think a lot of that maturity has paid off for us big time. We have a great group of seniors. We had Senior Day this past week and we did all the pictures on the field and I was walking off the field, I kind of took a step back and looked — ‘man, that’s why we got a good club. Because we have an older group.’ We got a great group of seniors… Just keeping everything business as usual as we’ve gone through the past few weeks.”
Since Jackson took over, Alabama has won nine of 11 games. Tuesday was just the latest, taking care of Kentucky in the first single elimination portion of the SEC Tournament. Florida will be next up in Hoover, going up against the co-regular season champions.

Jackson believes the Crimson Tide have been there all season but has recently put it all together. There is no better time to do so, with the most important part of the college baseball calendar upcoming.
“I think the thing that we don’t think about is, we were already playing pretty good,” Jackson said. “We had lost of few series early that we had a chance to win but we had been in a every game, every series. We just couldn’t quite put some things together.
“So, it wasn’t like a total ‘we weren’t playing good.’ It was more of ‘hey guys, here’s what’s happening. You can let it affect you or not. So let’s make sure we keep it business as usual. Keep doing our thing. We still got a lot to play for.’ They were just right away, ‘let’s get back to work.'”
