Jase McClellan has become the star of the Alabama rushing attack at the stretch end of the season, getting a majority of the snaps while Jahmyr Gibbs nursed an injury. Now, he is the one who will be dealing with some pain, leaving Saturday’s Iron Bowl against Auburn.
Going down with an apparent leg injury, McClellan got stuck underneath some players after taking a handoff. Trainers were quick to get to him before needing some help getting to the sideline. McClellan was able to eventually walk on his own but went straight to the medical tent.

Roydell Williams came in as his replacement, scoring a touchdown on the very next play. Even so, McClellan would be a significant loss for the Crimson Tide moving forward.
UPDATE: CBS sideline reporter Jenny Dell was able to provide an update on McClellan, saying the Alabama staff was looking at his right ankle. The running back is considered questionable to return.
“Jase McClellan, we saw him not putting any weight on that right ankle,” Dell said. “He’s still being evaluated. That’s a questionable return.”

AL.com’s Mike Rodak later said McClellan was out of the medical tent and on the sideline.
DJ Dale dealing with injury as well, good to play vs. Auburn
McClellan is not the only Alabama player dealing with an injury. Dell provided another update on interior defensive lineman DJ Dale, saying he spent time in the medical tent with a finger issue.
“He spent some time in the injury tent,” Dell said. “His middle and pointer finger were wrapped up on his right hand. But he’s good to go.”
He has since returned to the field, getting back in the mix for Alabama as they try to slowdown Auburn’s offense early in the game.
