Ryan Williams reacts to fellow Alabama 5-star Jaylen Mbakwe's portal decision
After On3’s Hayes Fawcett and Pete Nakos reported Jaylen Mbakwe’s decision to return to Alabama, Ryan Williams reacted. The star receiver took to Instagram to respond to the news.
Mbakwe initially announced his plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal on Monday, but reversed course. He informed the Alabama staff he’s planning to be back in Tuscaloosa next season, and he’s seeking some looks on the offensive side of the ball, as well.
It’s safe to say, Williams is excited to have his fellow 5-star back in the fold. He shared the viral clip of former Rams cornerback Marcus Peters telling reporters, “I think we ain’t done yet.”

Mbakwe also offered a message on his Instagram after the reports came out. He posted a clip from The Wolf of Wall Street to officially announce, appropriately, he’s not leaving.

Jaylen Mbakwe is coming off a solid freshman season at Alabama, where he was a key contributor on defense. In 12 appearances during the regular season, he totaled 15 tackles – including a tackle for loss – and an interception while recording two passes defended.
Mbakwe – like Williams – arrived in Tuscaloosa as a Five Star Plus+ recruit, meaning he was one of the only players ranked by all four major recruiting media companies as a five star. The Pinson (Ala.) Clay-Chalkville product was the No. 16 overall player and No. 2-ranked cornerback from the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Alabama has seen 15 players enter the transfer portal since the window opened Dec. 9. That number will stay the same with Mbakwe’s return. He never officially hit the open market after announcing his plans to do so.
