Nick Saban has brought in people from across the country to speak to his football team. A tradition in Tuscaloosa for a few years now, Alabama has had a star-studded cast during the 2023 fall camp. Sage Steele was the latest, with the former ESPN personality making her way into Mal Moore on Monday.

The official Alabama Football Twitter account posted some photos from Steele’s visit. One was her in conversation in Saban’s office, while the other two display her up front, speaking to the entire team. Steele has been in the broadcasting game for quite some time and should have had a good story to tell.

“What is your Why? Thank you, @sagesteele for sharing your Why with @AlabamaFTBL,” the tweet said.

Steele worked for ESPN for over 15 years, playing a role in different shows. She is best well known for being on SportsCenter but at one point, was involved in the World Wide Leader’s coverage of the NBA. From 2013 to 2017, Steele was the host of NBA Countdown.

However, Steele and ESPN recently parted ways and she is a free agent. One of her first stops just happened to be Tuscaloosa to give motivation to a football team is need of a good 2023 season.

Sage Steele latest speaker for Nick Saban, Alabama

A critical season is ahead of Alabama and Saban. Coming off a year where they did not make the College Football Playoff, a fellow SEC member, Georgia, has won back-to-back national championships. Kirby Smart has temporarily taken over the college football thrown and will look to retain his crown with a three-peat.

Of course, everything will be decided on the field. But Saban is having outside voices come and speak to the Alabama players before the season begins. Something the head coach has been doing over the past few years, some big-named people have made the trek down to T-Town.

Steele joined the party on Monday. NFL legend Michael Strahan was there before the former ESPN personality, sharing experiences from his career with the Crimson Tide.

However, Pete Rose may have had the most impactful message. Since visiting, Saban has referenced what Rose has spoken about a few times when meeting with the media. None more hilarious than advice from one of Rose’s former managers on how to deal with players.

Doc Rivers, Inky Johnson, and C.L. Shepard round out the group Saban has brought in to speak.
