The injury to Bryce Young put a real damper on the Top-20 matchup between Alabama and Arkansas this weekend. The Crimson Tide still came away with a 23-point win without him, but those in Tuscaloosa held their breath for a moment as they waited for positive news on the reigning Heisman.

Razorback head coach Sam Pittman also extended his well wishes after the loss on Saturday. He didn’t yet know Young’s updated status, but Pittman said he hopes to see the competitor that Young is back on the field soon.

“Alabama’s a really good football team, a physical team. I thought going into the game (they were) really good on defense and they certainly are. I don’t know if Bryce Young got hurt or if coach elected to go with (Jalen) Milroe but, if he did, I hope that he’s fine. He’s a really good player and a strong competitor.”

Young was having a solid start to the game against Arkansas before he exited with an AC joint injury in his shoulder. He completed 7/13 passes for a touchdown and an interception while also rushing for a touchdown. He left in the second quarter, though, and wouldn’t return. Young’s status for this weekend against Texas A&M is still unclear, but Pittman and college football fans will be happy to hear that it wasn’t season-ending.

Nick Saban adds more color on Bryce Young injury, explains why he did not re-enter Arkansas game

The story of the day in college football came out of Fayetteville, with Alabama quarterback Bryce Young leaving the game with an injury. Thankfully, the Crimson Tide were able to hold on for a win over Arkansas and improve to 5-0 on the season. But they are still in the thick of an SEC schedule, with Texas A&M up next.

After the game, head coach Nick Saban provided some more color on Young’s injury, saying it’s an AC sprain. The quarterback will be “day-to-day” moving forward. Saban also explained why they decided to not put the reigning Heisman Trophy winner back into the game.

“Bryce has a little AC sprain in his shoulder,” Sarkisian said. “We’ll have to take it day-to-day. I think he’s okay. Doesn’t have a serious injury. We didn’t think he could go back in the game today because I didn’t think he had much steam on throwing the ball. He’s had these before and after a few days, he starts to respond pretty well. So, we’ll just have to see how it goes and play it day-to-day.”
