2024 4-star LB Sterling Dixon to Alabama: "It is the perfect fit for me"
Not too long ago, Sterling Dixon thought LSU could be the school for him. But the more that the 2024 four-star linebacker out of Mobile (Ala.) Mobile Christian School went to Alabama, the more he felt like part of the Crimson Tide family. And he knew over a month ago that Alabama was the school. On Thursday, he announced his decision publicly.
“After the Mississippi State game is when I committed,” Dixon told On3. “I knew it that day. LSU was up there, and at one time, they were my top school, but I know Alabama is it. … It is the perfect fit for me. I will go in, work hard, win at Alabama and get to the NFL. I went to three games this season and over time, I made the decision that Alabama is where I want to be.”
Auburn was another school in the mix for the No. 61 prospect in the 2024 On300. Dixon was at the Iron Bowl over the weekend, and his visit only solidified that he had made the right choice with the Crimson Tide.
“Every time I visited Alabama this summer and this season, it opened my eyes,” he said. “The atmosphere is crazy. The fans love the players and it’s just home. There is a lot of love at Alabama, the fans pump up the players and I love it. Everyone goes hard. The players, the fans, the coaches — it is the Alabama standard.”
Dixon is excited about playing for Nick Saban
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound junior earned the offer from Alabama over the summer. Pete Golding, Coleman Hutzler and Charles Kelly have been recruiting Dixon hard since. He is excited about the opportunity to play for the staff in Tuscaloosa led by Nick Saban.
“Coach Saban is the greatest coach of all time,” Dixon said. “He and his staff hold the players at Alabama to a standard. Each player tries to reach that standard. Everyone wants to win, everyone wants to be great on and off the field and I want to be a part of what coach Saban has built at Alabama.”
Alabama is the perfect fit for Dixon
Dixon will go into the offseason preparing for his senior season as an Alabama commitment. When Dixon worked out for the Alabama coaches over the summer, he did so as a linebacker. He loves the fit.

“When I was there in the summer, the coaches fell in love with me and I fell in love with Alabama,” he added. “I am ready for them to coach me up, get me ready for the NFL and win championships at Alabama.”
The Crimson Tide view him as a versatile disruptor at linebacker who can play from sideline to sideline.
“The coaches want me to come in and play linebacker like Christian Harris when he was there,” he said. “I will move around at the inside linebacker position in the Alabama defense. They want me to rush some, use me in blitz packages and just be a disruptive player all over the field.
…The overall fit is great for me. The coaches will help me as a player, they will put me in a position to put on a show for the scouts and they will teach me how to win on and off the field.
