The city of Houston began Monday night with tornado warnings and a leak in the roof of NRG Stadium. It will end raining Maize of Blue confetti, with Michigan taking down Washington in the College Football Playoff National Championship. A long time has passed since the last one and Wolverine fans have waited a long time for the moment.

Not everybody was happy watching the game, though. Alabama defensive back Terrion Arnold voiced his frustration late in the fourth quarter, admitting it “hurt” watching Michigan win. After all, Alabama was just one play away from tying the Rose Bowl in overtime.

In a different world, Alabama comes through and is the one with smiles on their faces in Houston. Nick Saban teams have certainly been there in the past and dominated the four-team College Football Playoff era. Instead, Arnold just has to give his thoughts from back home in Tuscaloosa as Michigan wins the national championship.

The story of the night was Michigan’s defense making Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. uncomfortable. Multiple mistakes were forced and not just the two interceptions he threw. Throws we saw Penix hit all season were falling to the ground and a lot of credit will go out to the Wolverines’ secondary.

Had Alabama been there, Arnold would have been the one making the plays on Penix. He has had an incredible season from a personal standpoint, vaulting himself to a first-round pick in the NFL Draft. Based on his tweet, having one more opportunity to play and earn another team accomplishment would have meant the world to Arnold.

Jim Harbaugh described feeling of Michigan winning national championship

For the first time in 26 years, Michigan has won the national championship. Jim Harbaugh was brought to Ann Arbor to bring the program back to the promised land and delivered on Monday night in Houston. A performance against Washington that fits the description of the 2023 season, the Wolverines are the final team standing.

The Harbaugh Family is an accomplished one in football but Jim himself did not have a championship on his resume. He was asked how special this one was for him describing it as “glorious.” Then, he pulled out an old quote from his quarterback.

“It’s such a glorious feeling,” Harbaugh said when speaking to ESPN’s Holly Rowe. “Really don’t have any more words than that. Maybe to quote JJ McCarthy ‘Bet.’”

Harbaugh did his interview with ESPN while soaking wet, finally getting a Gatorade bath. He was able to avoid the first one but when you win a national championship, players are going to be persistent.
