Texas A&M DL transfer LT Overton commits to Alabama
Former Texas A&M defensive lineman LT Overton has committed to Alabama, he tells On3.
In two seasons with the Aggies, Overton has appeared in 21 games, recording 46 tackles and three tackles for loss, as well as one sack.
South Carolina, among a handful of other schools, heavily pursued him once he hit the transfer portal. But Alabama, who was in his top schools as a high school recruit, was one of the first schools he heard from and ultimately won out.
“Alabama was on it,” he told On3. “Right off the jump as soon as they saw I was in the portal, I got calls from Coach Roach and that’s where we started building back the relationship.”
After taking a visit to South Carolina, Overton visited the Crimson Tide last weekend and knew it’s where he wanted to finish his college career.
“Being on campus and being an adult now, I could see the impact Alabama will have on my life. Not just football, but also the players on the team. Being around the guys they have 24/7 and seeing the competition they have, I know I’m going to develop well and that stood out.”
The 6-foot-3, 265-pounder is the No. 25-ranked player to enter the portal, according to the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings and will have at least two years of eligibility remaining.
As a high school recruit, Overton played at Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton, where he was a Five-Star Plus+ recruit. He was the No. 12 overall prospect, No. 4 defensive lineman and No. 4 player in Georgia in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
