3-star 2022 tight end Danny Lewis offered by Alabama

A week after decommitting from Cincinnati, New Iberia (La.) Westgate tight end Danny Lewis received major news Wednesday when Alabama extended an offer to him.
Lewis is the No. 886 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 51 tight end and the No. 37 prospect in Louisiana this cycle.
The 6-foot-5, 220-pounder had been committed to Cincinnati since September, but after a slew of recent offers, he had a change of heart. His home state school, LSU, is in the mix. As is Florida, who was expected to host him for an official visit this weekend.

According to GatorsOnline, that visit will instead happen January 28, leaving this weekend open for a potential trip. Cincinnati and Indiana previously hosted Danny Lewis for official visits, with the Tigers and the now-offering Crimson Tide looking to get him on campus between now and the opening of the February signing period.
Alabama already has a two tight ends in the 2022 class with four-stars Elijah Brown and Amari Niblack, but they are actively looking to add a second. Jaleel Skinner, the nation’s No. 1 prospect at the position, was committed until December when he flipped to Miami and new head coach Mario Cristobal.
