Tim Tebow isn’t out on Alabama just yet and believes the College Football Playoff is still a possibility for the Crimson Tide.

Now, how do they get to college football’s version of the big dance? You have to win out.

Following a loss to Tennessee, Alabama has two losses but Tebow believes the Crimson Tide can still run the table and get in at 10-2 at minimum.

“No, I’m not out. Listen, I think if they run the table, I still think Alabama is in the College Football Playoff,” Tebow said on SportsCenter. “I think they have one of the best wins in the country, against Georgia. I think they’re a team when they play at a high level, when they play close to their ceiling, they’re one of the best teams in the country. The problem is they’re not always playing at that level, they haven’t been consistent, they haven’t been showing up for three hours on a Saturday where their defense shows up, their offense shows up, and their special teams.”

Consistency is the name of the game. Alabama hasn’t had much of that, especially against Vanderbilt and Tennessee.

“When they do, when they get that right, this team still has such a chance to be special,” Tebow said. “You’ve seen it for quarters. You’ve seen it for halves. You saw it for the first half against Georgia, when Jalen Milroe or Ryan Williams are on the same page, when Jam Miller is on the same page, when their defense steps up.

“Last week against Tennessee, their defense actually stepped up and played so much better. Their offense didn’t really show up. But when both sides show up, this team is still very scary.”

But if Kalen DeBoer’s crew gets it right, there’s enough talent to run the table. But the question is if. Some Alabama fans are worried about DeBoer in the middle of his first year.

Athletic director Greg Byrne says otherwise.

“You’ve taken plenty of shots in the last couple of weeks. Right? And that’s part of it. And I know early on you were very positive about Coach DeBoer and what was taking place. And I had a very wise coach tell me just the other day. He said, ‘Greg, you didn’t hire Coach for a month. You hired a coach for the long haul. For a marathon.’ And so as we go through this. And to our fans who are so good and they’re so special. We can’t thank you enough. We’re sold out tomorrow. Right? That’s awesome. And we don’t take that for granted whatsoever,” Byrne explained.

“But they’ll be people out there. They’re gonna be looking for cracks in the foundation. And I truly believe for the long haul for Alabama football for the University of Alabama. We’re in a really good position to have as much success as we can possibly have in the future. And it’s because of the incredible job of our kids, our coaches, our fans. Coach Saban and Miss Terry have been so, so supportive to Kalen and Nicole. And we couldn’t ask for it to be a better situation in that matter. So, we’re thankful for that as well. So, hey, did the game go the way we wanted it to in Nashville? No, you know what, Vandy deserves credit for that. But at the same time, too, I’m dang proud about where we are and I’m dang proud about what we’ve got ahead of ourselves.”
