Ty Simpson's father confirms plans to return to Alabama, will not enter transfer portal
Ty Simpson is running it back at Alabama and will not enter the transfer portal, his father Jason confirmed. On3’s Pete Nakos and BOL’s Tim Watts both reported the expectation was Simpson would stay with the Crimson Tide.
Simpson appeared in six games this past season for Alabama, but only threw 20 passes as he backed up Jalen Milroe. He split time as the backup with Tyler Buchner, who transferred in from Notre Dame, after sitting behind Milroe and Bryce Young last season.
On the whole, in his 10 appearances over two seasons with the Crimson Tide, Ty Simpson has completed 15 of 25 passes for 214 yards in the air while adding 86 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. His decision to come back comes after Milroe made the same decision, meaning Alabama will officially have both players coming back.
One Alabama quarterback, Eli Holstein, entered the transfer portal on Wednesday. It’s worth noting the Crimson Tide have a highly touted freshman coming in next year in Julian Sayin — one of the top quarterbacks from the 2024 recruiting cycle.
