Ty Simpson makes impressive throw at Manning Passing Academy

Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson showed off his arm at the Manning Passing Academy over the weekend. Video emerged on social media of the Crimson Tide QB making a deep throw downfield that landed right on target, hitting the receiver in stride.
Simpson was announced the Alabama starter this spring and was one of several college football names in attendance at the Manning Passing Academy. You can view his throw below.
Other names such as LaNorris Sellers (South Carolina), Arch Manning (Texas) and Drew Allar (Penn State) were among the list of attendees at this year’s Manning Passing Academy. They along with Simpson got the chance to soak up lessons from some NFL greats at the position in Peyton, Eli and Archie Manning.
The clip posted of Simpson is just a fraction of what he got to go through over the entire weekend and he’ll hopefully take what he learned to improve this season. He takes over for last year’s starter Jalen Milroe, who is now on to an NFL career.
Simpson pointed out the differences in his game compared to Milroe’s, but he also knows his athletic ability can make an impact. He’ll also rely on a staunch offensive line and do what it takes to win games in Ryan Grubb’s scheme.

“Coach Grubb coming in, he’s going to put his stuff in from being from the NFL,” Simpson said at the Manning Passing Academy in Thibodaux, La. “But I also think that me and Jalen have different playing abilities, I guess. Jalen, his legs were very unique. Everybody else saw that. That guy is [as] freakish [an] athlete I’ve ever seen. I feel like I’m a good athlete, as well, but Jalen does things better than I did. But I also do things, some, better than Jalen. It just depends on what the game is that week and what they do.
“We’re going to be true to our identity and get our playmakers the ball, but also understand that we’ve got a good offensive line up front. I’m very, very excited about what’s to hold in the future.”
Simpson is getting ready to enter his fourth season at Alabama, having appeared in 16 games during that time. He was 29-of-50 for 380 yards across the first three years of his career.
But this season will mark the first in a starting role for the former five-star recruit. Perhaps he can use the experience from the Manning Passing Academy to have the breakout year he and many fans are hopeful will come.
