WATCH: Alabama 4-star QB commit Eli Holstein tosses long touchdown pass
Zachary (La.) four-star quarterback Eli Holstein is one of the top players in the 2023 cycle. The Alabama commit is the No. 59 overall prospect and No. 7 quarterback in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Holstein demonstrated why head coach Nick Saban wanted to bring his talent in Tuscaloosa on Friday night. In a Jamboree against Lafayette (La.) Lafayette Christian, the 6-foot-3.5, 230 pound signal-caller found a wide-open receiver in the middle of the field. They connected and Zachary’s wideout raced untouched into the end zone to give the program a 14-0 lead.
Holstein, who committed to Alabama on May 24, 2022, eventually extended Zachary’s lead to 21 on a short touchdown run. The signal-caller was previously committed to Texas A&M before announcing his pledge to the Crimson Tide.

Holstein has an On3 NIL Valuation of $354K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
Eli Holstein On3 Scouting Summary
The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Eli Holstein:
“Productive passer with a well-rounded skill set. Physically developed and filled out, checking in at 6-foot-3.5 and around 225 pounds with a 10-inch hand. Shows a good arm in camp settings and on Friday nights. Excels in the short and intermediate passing game. Able to quickly read defenders’ leverage and deliver accurate passes. Strong in the RPO game. Well-schooled and capable of going through multiple progressions.. Tests as a very strong athlete in the combine setting. Grew around two inches over the course of his junior year.
“Plays for a top high school program in Louisiana and helped his team to a state title as a junior. Productive and efficient over the course of the season, though his efficiency dipped a bit in the playoffs. Showed the ability to pick up yards with his legs on scrambles and broken plays. Can continue improving on his deep ball and vertical passing. Also has room to improve mechanically – notably his posture and lower body flexibility within his throwing motion.”
