The Alabama Crimson Tide are squaring off against their biggest SEC rivals in the Tennessee Volunteers. After forcing a Volunteer punt on their first drive, the Crimson Tide marched 85 yards down the field for the first score of the game. The drive was capped off by an eight-yard touchdown run by running back Brian Robinson.

On a first-and-goal from the Tennessee eight-yard line Heisman-hopeful Bryce Young handed the ball off to Robinson. Usually, he is more of a physical runner and bulldozes through defenders. But on this run, as you can see, he shows off some fancy footwork. On Robinson’s way to the touchdown, he brushes off one would-be tackler in the backfield. Then at the next level, he stops on a dime forcing another Volunteer defender to completely whiff on the tackle. After breaking a would-be arm tackle, Robinson casually trots into the end zone.

Alabama’s smooth start-off

If this opening drive is any indication of what the game will be, Tennessee will be in for a long night. On this opening drive Young was 6 of 7 passing for 43 yards through the air. He also added one run for 12 yards. Possibly the best sign for the Alabama offense on this drive is their third-down conversion rate. On that drive, the Crimson Tide converted all three of their third-down attempts.

Tennessee responds big

Unfortunately for Alabama, it does not look like Tennessee took that hit laying down. After failing to score on their first drive, the Volunteers went 75-years in one minute and 50 seconds to tie the game 7-7. On third and seven from the Alabama eight, Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker connected with Velus Jones For the touchdown. And after a roughing the kicker penalty by the Crimson Tide on their next drive, the Volunteers capitalized and turned that Alabama mistake into points. On the second play after the penalty, Hooker found JaVonta Payton For a 57-yard touchdown.

As we head into the second quarter Alabama currently trails Tennessee 14-7, and currently have possession of the ball.
