As Alabama closed out their upset win against Baylor, freshman point guard JD Davison delivered an emphatic dunk after a steal to take a ten-point lead. The Crimson Tide held their lead to upset the No. 4 ranked team in the nation at home, leading to an incredible moment in the crowd as fans cheered their effort.

Alabama’s upset win over Baylor

After knocking off No. 4 Baylor, Alabama has now won five games against top-15 teams in the nation. The Crimson Tide had also previously beaten then-No. 3 ranked Gonzaga. In addition, Alabama has now beaten three of the four teams to appear in the Final Four last season after beating then-No. 14 Houston earlier this season.

Davison’s huge play set the crowd off, and the freshman ended his game with 14 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds.

Alabama’s ability as a team to get to the rim and play inside around the basket made the difference in the game. The Crimson Tide shot over 59 percent from the field and shot 22-for-26 from the free throw line, making the most of every opportunity they had.

With the win, Alabama improves to 14-7 on the season with major wins on their resume. Despite the impressive moments, there have been several head-scratching games that Alabama has lost as well. In conference play, Alabama lost games to Missouri and Georgia, putting them at seventh in the conference currently.

“We’re running out of time,” Alabama coach Nate Oats said on Friday. “I think the realization is there. We just need to see it now.”

Jaden Shackelford wears hard hat in postgame interview

After Alabama’s upset win over Baylor, junior guard Jaden Shackelford showed up to his postgame interview with headgear that reflected their effort. Shackelford wore an Alabama-branded hard hat, seeming to make a statement about his team’s hard work.

Shackelford certainly appeared to put in the hard work against Baylor, grabbing nine of Alabama’s 29 rebounds and outrebounding every player in the game. In addition to his work on the glass, Shackelford put up 19 points with five assists and recorded three steals. Although he struggled a bit from the field, his ability to draw fouls let him shoot 8-for-10 from the free throw line.
