The 2022 NFL Scouting Combine is underway in Indianapolis, Indiana and the running backs are running backs are running their 40-times on Friday night. Former Alabama running back Brian Robinson, Jr. just ran a surprisingly slow unofficial 4.63 40-yard dash time on his first attempt.

Watch it below.

It turns out, once again, there were plenty of mistakes in the unofficial times on Friday night. After the run, the NFL released the official 40-times on their website, and Robinson was much faster than 4.63.

His official 40-yard dash time was 4.53. That number makes a lot more sense. Still, the gifted Alabama tailback provides a rare level of toughness and durability that cannot be measured in a 40-time.

He handled over 20 carries in four games this season for the Alabama offense and he’s rushed for over 100 yards in all four of those games (ArkansasTennesseeTexas A&M, and Ole Miss).

During his first four years in college, Robinson played behind future NFL players Damien HarrisJosh Jacobs and Najee Harris. He finally got his first opportunity to start this past season, and the fifth-year senior certainly didn’t take it for granted. Robinson proved his skill with a career-high 1,343 rushing yards and 16 total touchdowns in the 2021-2022 season, giving NFL teams good reason to consider drafting him in April.

Just how good was Robinson this season for the Crimson Tide? Per PFF, he had 79 missed tackles forced, more than Derrick Henry in 2015 (76). When a running back is putting up better numbers than Derrick Henry in nearly any stat category, it’s impressive. The former Alabama star is one of the greatest running backs ever to play the game.

Robinson is currently listed at the seventh-best running back prospect in the draft according to ESPN’s big board.
