WATCH: Bryce Young beats blitz, 51-yard touchdown pass to Brian Robinson Jr
Alabama quarterback Bryce Young continued to deliver into the third quarter against Mississippi State, finding Brian Robinson Jr. for a 51-yard touchdown. It was Young’s second huge touchdown pass of the game against third down defense, and Young faced a blitzing defense from the Bulldogs.
Bryce Young touchdown to Brian Robinson III
With pressure coming and the center of the field covered short, Young found Robinson wide open on the sideline. After catching the ball and finding no defenders around him, Robinson took off down the field and out-raced the Bulldogs’ defense.
Through the first three quarters, Alabama had 396 yards of total offense and a pair of interceptions grabbed against Mississippi State’s Will Rogers. Robinson ended the third quarter with 131 yards of total offense and two touchdowns.
Young had thrown for 288 yards and three touchdowns without an interception entering the fourth quarter, another impressive performance by the young head of Alabama’s offense.
The one-two punch of Robinson’s running and Young’s passing has led Alabama to their No. 5 ranking despite losing their first game of the season to Texas A&M last week. Bryce Young getting additional touchdown support from Robinson in the backfield will go a long way to setting up the Alabama offense for success.

Alabama rolling through Mississippi State
Alabama head coach Nick Saban knew the challenge that awaited Alabama on Saturday against Mississippi State. The Crimson Tide lost last week to drop to 5-1 and are looking to get back on track with a victory on the road. Mississippi State is 3-2 on the year and defeated Texas A&M two weeks ago before last week’s bye.
With Alabama needing to get back in the win column, Saban talked about the challenges of facing an improving Mississippi State team. He said that this year’s team is much better than last year’s.
“They’re a good team. They are much better than they were a year ago,” Saban said of Mississippi State. “They play better on defense and the quarterback is a lot better. He played half the game against us last year but he was a freshman, and he’s been starting ever since. They’ve added a couple of skill guys, transfers that are much better receivers than what they had. Their offensive line is better. They’re a much better team than we faced a year ago. And the games they lost were very close. This will be a very challenging game.”
The preparation appeared to help as the Crimson Tide were up 35-9 following Bryce Young’s touchdown toss to Robinson.
