Bryce Young has been tremendous in his first season as the unquestioned starter for Alabama. After watching Mac Jones shred defenses last season, it was always going to be a tough act to follow. Well, Young didn’t back down — becoming the first Alabama quarterback to win the Heisman Trophy.

The brightest star in the college football world had a bevy of people to thank. After the ceremony, Young had to single out one particular group — sending his love to Tuscaloosa and all of the Crimson Tide faithful.

“I just want to give a huge shoutout to the Alabama fanbase,” stated Young. “Thank you for constantly supporting and being there for me. A night like this definitely is not possible without you guys. Individually and us as a team, we love and appreciate your guys support. Roll Tide.”

The Alabama fanbase embraced Young, believing in the quarterback wholeheartedly. Instead of believing there wasn’t a quarterback that could match Jones’ performance, Tuscaloosa became enamored with Young — and he paid off their support big time.

Now, Young will look to put the finishing touches on a legendary season. If he can cap his year with a national championship, it’ll be one of the most successful seasons a quarterback can have in the sport.

Young: ‘But at the end of the day, this wasn’t the goal’

Winning the Heisman Trophy is the accomplishment of a lifetime for most football players. However, Bryce Young is honored — but he has another piece of hardware on his mind.

“Yeah, a hundred percent. This is a huge honor, a huge blessing. This is something that’s surreal to accomplish and I’ll remember for the rest of my life,” Young said. “But at the end of the day this wasn’t the goal, and the goal is not completed yet.

“For us it’s just giving it our all for — we have really a one-game season. We have to do everything we can do to prepare. We have to work harder than we have before. It’s going to take everything for us to be successful in this next game, and that’s what we need to do. This is a huge blessing. This is something I’m going to be grateful for forever, but this isn’t the end goal, and there’s a lot more for me individually to work on and for us as a team to accomplish.”

It’s tough not to get fired up if you’re an Alabama fan hearing Bryce Young talk about his goals. The quarterback will enjoy his Heisman, but it’s right back to work for Young in his quest to deliver Alabama another title.
