WATCH: Jameson Williams makes history in Alabama blowout
Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams made history on Saturday against Southern Miss, with two kick return touchdowns and an 81-yard touchdown catch. Williams’ two kick returns for touchdowns was the first time in Alabama history that had happened.
Jameson Williams sets Alabama history
On a huge night for the junior receiver, Williams added to his record setting performance with an 81-yard touchdown reception. Williams’ three huge plays were a large factor in Alabama’s dominant showing at home.
One of Williams touchdowns went the entire distance of the field with a longest return of 100 for the game. On just three returns and one reception, Williams recorded 258 total yards.
Big plays are nothing new to Williams at Alabama by now, as he previously came close to the longest reception record against Miami in the season opener. Williams added a 94-yard touchdown catch to his resume with the Crimson Tide, giving him two plays this season of over 90 yards and four over 80.
Williams and Alabama are both pleased early this season with the decision he made to transfer to Alabama from Ohio State.
Alabama vulnerable?
Despite the big 63-14 win Saturday against Southern Miss, concerns were raised about how strong the program actually is after a close game with Florida the previous week.
ESPN’s Lee Corso stated that Alabama was very vulnerable and although they were still the best team in college football, they were capable of losing.

“One of the two weeks, Mississippi or Texas A&M,” Corso stated about who he felt would beat Alabama.
Another ESPN analyst, Kirk Herbstreit, chimed in by asking if “someone’s going to get them?” Corso’s throat cut gesture was all we needed to confirm the former college football coach’s thoughts.
On3’s Clint Lamb explored Corso’s comments.
“On College GameDay, Corso doubled down on that statement, calling Alabama ‘beatable.’ The question remains, is he correct? Are the Crimson Tide vulnerable right now?”
“Alabama’s inability to maintain intensity and focus, something coach Nick Saban has brought up multiple times now, remains an issue,” explained Lamb. “So are the defense’s struggles to tackle consistently. And penalties? Yeah, Alabama ranks No. 122 in the nation, averaging 9.3 penalties per game.”
Lamb finished his assessment by explaining Alabama’s issues that need correcting before they play the games Corso warned about. If they can fix what they need, they can continue their dominant streak. If they can’t, Corso’s prediction has a chance of coming true.
