WATCH: Jameson Williams makes incredible catch late for third touchdown
Jameson Williams made an incredible catch for his third touchdown of the game as Alabama took a 42-28 lead late over Arkansas. On third-and-10, quarterback Bryce Young unloaded a 40-yard pass to the deep part of the end zone. Williams made the difficult catch, securing possession through hitting the ground and getting his knee down.
Jameson Williams’ third touchdown
The huge play came after Arkansas threatened Alabama’s lead halfway through the fourth quarter. After forcing a fumble from the Crimson Tide, the Razorbacks began a drive backed up on their goal line. Arkansas punted on their potential tying drive, giving Young the football back in a record-setting game for the young quarterback.
Young quickly delivered his fifth passing touchdown of the game and recorded 561 yards after the pass to Williams. Young’s performance set the new single game passing record for Alabama.
Williams was the main recipient of Young’s throwing, finishing his day with 180 yards and three touchdowns, including his lead-securing catch in the fourth quarter.
Williams finding holes in the defense
On a second-and-14 play in the second quarter, the Crimson Tide dialed up a play to test the Razorbacks’ defense deep. Williams was covered with a ten-yard cushion from the defensive back in front of him and ran a deep post route down the center of the field.
Despite the defense cheating so far back in the coverage, Williams was able to blow past his defender and the safety both as quarterback Bryce Young dropped an absolutely perfect pass into his arms. Alabama took the momentum back quickly with the 17-7 lead on the 79-yard touchdown catch.
Arkansas responded with a quick 75-yard touchdown drive of their own, scoring in less than two minutes to bring it back to 17-14.

Williams and the Tide did not take long to regain control however, when Young found Williams on a slant route. Williams caught the ball without being touched and simply accelerated past the defense, hitting the end zone just as the opposite-field cornerback finally touched him.
While Arkansas had another one of their impressive offensive performances this season, Alabama had an answer each time through the first half.
Young entered the halftime break with 287 yards and three touchdowns already, Williams was responsible for 121 of those yards and two touchdowns. John Metchie III contributed most of the rest with 122 yards himself and the other touchdown.
Head coach Nick Saban spoke highly of Williams leading up to Saturday’s game, explaining what he felt makes the Ohio State transfer such a star for Alabama.
“All the great players have similar qualities,” Saban said. “They have great physical ability, but they also have the right mindset to go out there and try to be the best that they can be every time they hit the field and that’s what Will possesses. He’s got a lot of ability, he’s got great size. He’s got great speed and can turn speed to power. This guy has relied on the way he approaches the game, the way he competes in the game and the way he practices every day.
